Brock Fearday Throws Perfect Game, Area Baseball Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony's Brock Fearday threw a perfect game as the Bulldogs blanked Mount Zion 17-0 in four baseball innings Wednesday.

Fearday did not allow a run, hit or walk and struck out six in the contest.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs were hot offensively with 14 hits that included four home runs and four doubles.

Fearday aided his own cause with a single, double, home run and two RBI. Aiden Lauritzen and Will Hoene had a single, home run and three RBI each. Beau Adams hit a solo shot while Eli Levitt had a single, double and two RBI. Connor Roepke finished with a single, double and an RBI and Nick Ruholl had a double.

The Bulldogs moved ahead 4-0 in the first inning then had an 11-run second and finished with two runs in the third.

At Toledo

Altamont took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning and went on to blank Cumberland by a 6-0 count Wednesday.

Mason Robinson was the big bat on the day for the Indians with a single, double, two home runs and four RBI. The rest of the hits, all singles, were by five different players.

Five pitchers went to the mound. Jared Hammer picked up the victory, going two innings, allowing no runs on no hits, no walks while striking out four.

The five pitchers combined for only four walks while striking out 13. Robinson gave up one walk and struck out four. Aden McManaway and Eli Miller had two strikeouts each.

Cumberland's lone hit came from Kade McMechan with a single.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City came through with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a 5-4 victory over Okaw Valley Wednesday.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 after the first inning. Okaw Valley moved ahead 2-1 in the second and tallied two more runs in the fourth. CHBC came back with a run in the fifth to trail 4-2.

With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh, the Bobcats' Drake Davis doubled home two runners to end the game via walkoff.

CHBC had eight hits in the contest led by AJ Radloff with a single, double and an RBI. Wyatt Rueff and Carson Evans had a double each while Gage Lorton had two singles.

Jacob Doty picked up the win on the mound.

At Neoga

Neoga took a 4-0 first inning lead but couldn't hold on as Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran came back with two in the second and three runs in the sixth and seventh for the 8-5 win Wednesday.

Both teams had seven hits. Bryar Hennesay led the way for Neoga with a single, double and three RBI. Ryan Koester and M. Staszak had a single and an RBI each for the Indians.

CORL trailed 5-2 until the sixth then tallied three runs and finished with three in the seventh for the winning margin.

Neoga dropped to 6-8 on the season and is back in action today at Cumberland.

Junior Varsity Game

Effingham St. Anthony came back with three runs in the top of the seventh but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs fell to Robinson, 5-4 in junior varsity action Wednesday.

Robinson held a 1-0 first inning lead and led 5-0 after four. St. Anthony tallied one in the fifth and attempted a comeback with three in the seventh only to fall short.

Henry Brent and Ethan Karolewicz had two singles and an RBI each for the Bulldogs. JC Trupiano had a single and an RBI.
