Cubs, Cardinals Split Tuesday Doubleheader

The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals split a doubleheader Tuesday.

The Cubs won the afternoon game 2-0 as rookie pitcher Javier Assad threw four shutout innings and the bullpen finished up to outduel Cardinals ace Adam Wainwright.

The Cardinals' big bats showed up in the night contest, downing the Cubs 13-3 including a six-run ninth inning outburst. Jake Woodford started and went 5-1/3 innings to claim the win.

Game 4 of the five-game series will be tonight at 7:05pm, with Game 5 at 1:20pm on Thursday.

Also Tuesday, Baltimore downed the White Sox 5-3.
