CENTRALIA -- Effingham Junior High School traveled to Centralia and handed the host squad an 8-3 loss in baseball competition Monday.

The Mustangs stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and held the lead throughout the game.

Carson Fox had a single, double and drove in two runs while Carter Braddy had three singles and two RBI. Jenner Pals had a single and two RBI and Westin Hayes two singles.

At Centralia

At Toledo

Jasper County broke loose in the fifth and seventh innings to bounce Cumberland, 14-2 Monday.

Cumberland took a 2-1 first inning lead but Jasper County tallied two runs in the third and moved ahead 8-2 in the fifth and finished out with six in the seventh.

Brock Anderson led the 14-hit attack with three singles and two RBI while Parker Harris added a single, double and three RBI and Nolen Cleaver a single, double and an RBI and Xander Wilson had two singles and an RBI.

Cumberland was led by L. Lock with two singles and G. Keyser with a single and two RBI.

At Toledo

South Central played host to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and sent the visitors home with an 11-1 loss in five innings Monday.

South Central edged out to a 1-0 lead in the second then had a four-run fourth and a six-run fifth.

S. Kruger and K. Harrell led the way for the winners with a single, double and two RBI each while C. Cartright added a double and three RBI.

CHBC was led by Carter Dilley with a single and double.

South Central's G. Shumate picked up the win on the mound going 4.2 innings allowing one run on one hit, five walks while striking out 10.

Newton St. Thomas was a winner over Teutopolis in action Monday, 14-7.

Quincy Fulton was the winning pitcher going 3 2/5 innings with six strikeouts.

Gavin Meinhart had a single and triple for the winners while Brooks Hermann had a single and double.

St. Thomas is back in action today at Palestine.
