MATTOON -- Effingham St. Anthony blanked South Central, 15-0 in three innings of high school baseball at Lake Land College Tuesday.

The Bulldogs ripped out to a 13-0 opening inning lead then added on single runs in the second and third.

Eli Levitt threw a two-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts.

Levitt aided his own cause with a single, triple and three RBI. Beau Adams had two singles and two RBI. Brody Niebrugge had a triple and four RBI and Brody Hatton a double. Angelo Mendella had a single and an RBI and Will Hoene and Connor Roepke an RBI each.

The two hits for the Cougars were singles by Anthony Buonaura and Beau Jolliff.

At Strasburg

North Clay (Louisville) came calling and claimed an 8-1 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday.

The two teams were knotted at 1-1 after the first inning and it stayed that way until the Cardinals scored three runs in the fifth and finished off with four in the seventh.

Carson Burkett went six innings on the mound allowing one run on two hits, no walks while striking out four.

Holden Clifton had a big day at the plate for the Cardinals. Clifton had three singles, a home run and drove in three. Collyn Ballard and Layton Dawkins had a double each. Ballard added an RBI. Logan Fleener had a single and drove in two runs while Bryton Griffy had a single and an RBI.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Gavan Wernsing with a single and double and Samuel Vonderheide with a double and an RBI. The Hatchets dropped to 14-2 on the season.

 At Newton

This contest went 13 innings before being decided as Teutopolis pulled out a 16-13 win over Newton Tuesday.

There were 36 hits between the two schools and 11 errors. T-town went through five pitchers while the Eagles had four pitchers.

Newton edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead then tallied three in the second. Newton held a 12-5 lead after four innings. But the Wooden Shoes came back with three in the fifth and four in the sixth to tie the score at 12-12. The two squads went through the next four innings and did not score. Finally in the 11th, T-town moved ahead 13-12 in the top of the inning only to see the Eagles tie it again in the bottom of the frame.

The two teams went through the 12th scoreless before T-town broke loose with three runs in the 13th to win.

T-town had 23 hits in the contest, nine of those for extra bases. Derek Konkel had two singles, a double, home run and five RBI while Sam Bushur had a single, double, home run and three RBI. Cade Buehnerkemper added two singles, a double and two RBI. Mitch Althoff and Dylan Pruemer had a single, double and an RBI each while Garrett Gaddis had a solo home run.

Also contributing were Caleb Siemer with two singles and a double, Caleb Bloemer with three singles and Kayden Althoff added two singles and an RBI.

Newton had 14 hits led by Gage Reynolds with two singles, a double and an RBI, Carder Reich with a home run and two RBI, Owen Mahaffey with a single, double and an RBI, Gus Bierman two singles and three RBI, Ben Meinhart three singles and Daniel Spiker with a double and two RBI.

Bushur picked up the win, going the final two innings, allowing one hit and one walk. The Wooden Shoes improved to 12-6 and will be back in action at Mattoon Thursday.

Newton dropped to 13-4 and will play host to Robinson Thursday.

Brownstown/St. Elmo tallied an easy victory over Cumberland by an 18-3 score Tuesday.

The Bombers took a 3-1 first inning lead then tacked on a single run in the second, eight in the third, two in the fourth and finished the contest with four in the fifth.

BSE banged out 12 hits led by Wyatt Chandler with a grand slam home run. Brady Maxey added two singles, a double and an RBI, Dalton Myers three singles and five RBI, Kyle Behl a double and an RBI and Kevin Hall two singles.

Hall picked up the pitching win going three innings allowing one run on one hit, one walk and three strikeouts.

BSE improved to 8-5 on the season and returns to action Thursday against Vandalia.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City trailed Shelbyville 5-3 after the opening inning before the Rams took off with six in the third and two in the fifth to end the game via the 10-run rule, 13-3 Tuesday.

The Rams had 15 hits while Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City had five.

CHBC was led by Jacob Doty with a single and two RBI and Silas Buzzard with a single and an RBI.

Casey-Westfield had 11 hits and its pitchers held Dieterich to four hits in a 10-1 victory Tuesday.

The Warriors took a 4-0 first inning lead then had a four-run fourth and scored single runs in the fifth and sixth.

The Movin' Maroons had singles by Garrett Niebrugge, Pete Britton, Austin Ruholl and Dane Curry.
