St. A Hands Mattoon 10-7 Baseball Loss; Dieterich Falls

Effingham St. Anthony took a 5-0 second inning lead and went on to down Mattoon 10-7 in high school baseball action Tuesday.

The Bulldogs tallied two more runs in the fourth and fifth and a final run in the sixth.

Will Hoene and Brady Hatton provided the one-two scoring punch for the Bulldogs. Hoene had two singles, a double and two RBI while Hatton had two doubles and two RBI. Eli Levitt had a single and drove in two runs. Beau Adams, Colton Fearday and Eli Link had a single and an RBI each.

The Green Wave had eight hits led by Cayden Knierim with two singles, a double and an RBI while Kaden Junge hit a home run and drove in three. Zane Wetzel had a single and double and Chandler Melton a double.

Brody Niebrugge was the winning pitcher, going four innings, allowing one run on four hits, three walks and striking out four.

Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville took the early lead and went on to blank Dieterich, 4-0 Tuesday.

OPH tallied a run in the first inning then added on two in the third and one in the fifth.

The Movin' Maroons had three hits in the contest led by Pete Britton with two singles. Jaxon Funneman had the other hit, a single.
