St. Anthony Posts 5-3 Win Over Indians in Neoga; Other Thursday Scores

The St. Anthony Bulldogs posted a 5-3 win over the Indians at Neoga Thursday afternoon. The game was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com

Neoga jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead. With one out, Brady Reynolds and Kaden Young produced back-to-back singles. After another out, Ryan Koester singled home Reynolds, then Bryar Hennessey singled home Young. 

St. Anthony tied the game with two runs in the third. Brock Jansen drew a leadoff walk, then with one out, Beau Adams singled. Will Hoene walked, then Brody Niebrugge and Colton Fearday each drove in a run to knot the game at 2-2.

The Bulldogs added two more runs in the fourth inning. With one out, Brady Hatten reached on an error and Jansen's walk was followed by a walk to Angelo Mendella. Adams and Niebrugge singled home runs to give St. Anthony a 4-2 lead.

In the fifth, St. Anthony got a one-out triple from Eli Levitt, and Hatten's fly ball brought home Levitt to make it 5-2.

Neoga scored a run in the bottom of the fifth. A one-out single from Will O'Dell and a base hit from Brady Reynolds. Luke Romack singled home O'Dell to make a 5-3 game but, despite other base runners, that accounted for the final score.

For St. Anthony, starter Eli Link went four innings and allowed two runs on four hits with three strikeouts without walking a batter. Brock Jansen gave up a run in an inning on three hits with a walk and a strikeout. Brock Fearday went 1-1/3 innings, giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, and Brady Hatten got the final two outs.

For Neoga, Quentin Richards pitched three innings, allowing two runs on three hits, walking four with a strikeout. Brady Reynolds pitched the final four innings, allowing two runs on five htis with a walk and a strikeout.

At the plate for St. Anthony; Angelo Mendella drew a walk; Beau Adams singled twice, scored and drove in a run; Will Hoene singled twice and walked; Brody Niebrugge singled and walked and drove in two runs; Colton Fearday singled and drove home a run; Eli Levitt tripled and scored a run; Brady Hatten reached on an error and scored a run and drove home a run; and Brock Jansen singled and walked and scored twice.

At the plate for Neoga, Will O'Dell singled and scored; Brady Reynolds singled three times and scored a run; Kaden Young singled and walked and scored a run; Luke Romack singled in a run; Ryan Koester singled home a run; and Bryar Hennessey singled in a run.

St. Anthony improved to 8-2 on the fall, while Neoga is now 2-6.

ALTAMONT 10, MULBERRY GROVE 0

The Indians gradually pulled away in this one, scoring three runs in the first inning, four more in the second, a run in the third and two more runs in the fourth inning. Altamont collected eight hits in the contest, three from Kienon Eirhart and two from Mason Robinson. Eirhart and Wyatt Phillips each drove in two runs and Robinson also had a RBI. 

Jared Hammer pitched the first five innings to claim the victory, striking out seven.

CENTRALIA CHRIST OUR ROCK 5, BROWNSTOWN/ST. ELMO 4

Christ Our Rock took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, then added a run in the third, but BSE scored in the bottom of the frame to make it 2-1. Christ Our Rock scored three in the top of the fifth to go up 5-1. BSE scored three in the bottom of the frame, but that ended the scoring in the contest and Christ Our Rock claimed the win. 

Jarrett Pasley took the loss, going 4-1/3 innings and allowing five runs on seven hits, walking two and fanning three.

At the plate for BSE: Adam Atwood singled; Brady Maxey tripled and doubled and drove in four runs; Dalton Myers doubled; and Wyatt Forbes, Wyatt Stine and Lukas Miller each singled.

BSE is now 5-4 on the fall.

SOUTH CENTRAL 4, ODIN 0

South Central scored twice in the first inning, then added single runs in the fourth and the seventh innings to post the win. 

Buonaura got the win, working 4-2/3 innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out nine. Johannes pitched the final 2-1/3 innings, allowing three hits and a walk with one strikeout.

At the plate for South Central: Thompson doubled and walked three times, scored twice and drove in a run; Dodson singled, scored and drove in a run; Joliff singled and drove in two runs; Buonaura walked; Magnus singled; Dunn singled; and Watwood singled and scored.

NORTH CLAY 11, WAYNE CITY/WEBBER 0

The Cardinals improved to 9-0 with the win.
