Effingham Junior High School claimed a 7-4 win over Dieterich Friday.

Dieterich took a 2-1 first inning lead and led 3-2 after three. Effingham tied in the bottom of the fourth before Dieterich moved ahead 4-3 in the fifth. The Mustangs came back with three runs in the bottom of the sixth and one in the seventh.

Leading Effingham were Brock Meltabarger with two singles and three RBI, Max Flack with two singles, a double and one RBI, Wyatt Hayes and Wade Bushur with a single and double each, Braydon Tucker and Brody Boehm with a double each. Tucker had an RBI.

In a Monday contest, the Mustangs claimed a 5-1 win over Greenville.

Greenville led 1-0 until the third when Effingham tallied three runs and never looked back.

Boehm led in hitting with a single and double while Max Flack had a double and two RBI and Carter Braddy a single, double and two RBI.

At Kinmundy

South Central claimed two victories and suffered one loss over the weekend.

In a Friday contest, South Central fell to Vandalia, 6-3. Vandalia took a 3-2 opening inning lead and South Central tied in the top of the third. But Vandalia came back with a run in the bottom of the frame then tacked on single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Hudson Moore led South Central with two singles and two RBI while Chase Guerrettaz had a double.

Luke Shumate threw a perfect game as South Central blanked Mulberry Grove 12-0 in four innings Saturday.

Shumate did not give up a hit or walk a batter. He finished with nine strikeouts.

Guerrettaz had a single, double, triple and drove in four runs while L. Shumate and Trayton Sidwell had two singles each. Shumate had two RBI and Sidwell one.

In a Monday contest, South Central blanked Neoga, 10-0 in five innings.

Colt Cartright threw a two-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts.

Sidwell had a single, double and three RBI while L. Shumate had three singles and an RBI. Guerrettaz added two singles and an RBI.

Neoga's two hits were K. White with a single and A. White with a single.

Neoga edged Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 7-6 in Friday action.

CHBC moved ahead 2-0 in the first and tacked on three in the second and one in the sixth.

Neoga was led by Coy and Matusus with two singles each.

CHBC was led by Clive Schlanser with three singles and an RBI and August Cosart with two singles and two RBI.

Jasper County picked up a 2-0 win over Casey-Westfield in Monday action.

Jasper County tallied a run in the third and a run in the sixth. Dominic Baltzell had a double and drove in a run while Drake Wolf had two singles and an RBI and Hayden Mulvey two singles.

Wolf picked up the win on the mound going all seven innings, allowing two hits, two walks and striking out four.
