Effingham Sacred Heart tallied an 11-1 junior high baseball victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo Monday.

The Shamrocks started the scoring in the bottom of the first on an Austin Borries double that brought home William Hecht and Michael Wright who reached base on a walk. Nash Wernsing and Oliver Kreke also scored in the first as the Shamrocks jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Dominic Weiglos and Jude Traub garnered hits in the bottom of the second to add two more runs to the board. Michael Wright and Borries led off the sixth with doubles and Borries came around to score the final run in the 11-1 win on a Wernsing bunt.

The Shamrocks had eight hits led by Borries with a single, double and three RBI, Wright with double, Traub with two singles and an RBI and Kreke with two singles and an RBI.

Hecht went one inning, allowing no runs on no hits. Traub threw four innings of shutout ball with 11 strikeouts. Wright threw the final innings and held BSE to one run.

Rodgers had the lone hit for BSE with a single.

At Effingham

Effingham claimed a 10-1 win over Salem Franklin Park in action Monday.

Wade Bushur threw a one-hitter for the victory with eight strikeouts.

Franklin Park took a 1-0 first inning lead but the Mustangs tied in the second and tallied three runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings.

Bushur aided his own cause with a single, two doubles and three RBI. Carter Braddy had a single and double for the winners. Nolan Fearday had a double and drove in three runs.

At Sigel

Sigel St. Michael trailed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 3-2 after the first inning but got untracked with a five-run second and went on to end the game in the fifth via the 10-run rule, 14-4.

The Sharpshooters had 12 hits, four of those for extra bases. Davin Worman led the way with a single, two doubles and an RBI while Alex Mayer had a single, double and three RBI and Bryce Niebrugge a single, double and an RBI. Hunter HIlle added two singles and two RBI and Brant Niebrugge had a single and drove in two runs.

Shawn Hoene was the winning pitcher, going four iinnings, allowing four runs on five hits, four walks and two strikeouts. The Sharpshooters are now 3-3 on the season.

CHBC was led by Carter Dilley with a double and two RBI and Clive Schlanser with two singles. CHBC fell to 3-6.
