Altamont Downs St. Anthony, S. Central Wins

ALTAMONT -- Altamont came back in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a 6-5 National Trail Conference baseball victory over Effingham St. Anthony Tuesday.

The Indians took a 2-0 first inning lead then tacked on a single run in the second. St. Anthony came back with a run in the top of the fourth. Altamont pushed its lead to 4-1 in the sixth.

But, here came the Bulldogs. Scoring four runs in the top of the seventh, St. Anthony took its first lead of the game at 5-4. St. Anthony loaded the bases and with two outs, Colton Fearday doubled to clear the bases and push the Bulldogs into the lead.

In the bottom of the frame, Altamont's Tyler Robbins doubled and Mason Winn pinch ran for him and Logan Cornett drew a walk, A wild pitch scored Winn to tie the score at 5-5. Brayden Stuemke walked and Braden Baucum was intentionally walked to again load the bases. But here came another wild pitch and Cornett scored the winning run.

Both teams had six hits. Altamont was led by Baucum and Robbins with a single and double each while Mason Robinson and Jared Hammer had a double and an RBI each.

St. Anthony was led by Fearday with a single, double and four RBI and Eli Moore with a single, double and an RBI.

At Kinmundy

South Central played host to Dieterich and sent the Movin' Maroons home with an 11-5 National Trail Conference loss Tuesday.

Dieterich was the leader through the first two and a half innings scoring single runs in the first and second and leading 3-0 in the top of the third.

South Central then came back in the bottom of the inning to tie the score and moved into an 11-3 lead with eight runs in the bottom of the fourth. Dieterich tallied two more in the fifth.

The Cougars had 10 hits led by Chase Dodson with two singles, a double and three RBI while Beau Jolliff had a single and drove in two runs. Chase Thompson chipped in with a single, double and an RBI.

Dieterich was led by Pete Britton with a single, home run and an RBI while Garrett Niebrugge added a double and an RBI.
