Cubs Claim Fifth Straight Victory, ML Scores, Standings

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs picked up their fifth straight victory by edging Kansas City 5-4 Tuesday at Wrigley Field.
Three home runs powered the Cubs Jason Heyward hit a two-run shot in the second before Jason Kipnis nailed a two-run homer in the fourth. Willson Contreras' solo shot came in the eighth.
The Cubs were outhit by Kansas by a 10-9 count. The Cubs held a 2-1 lead in the second and a 4-2 lead until the eighth then tallied another run for a 5-2 lead. The Royals rallied with two in the ninth. Cubs' reliever Kyle Ryan closed out the ninth for his first save.
Kyle Hendricks went seven innings to improve to 2-1. He gave up seven hits, two runs and struck out three.
Marlins Get Win After Return To Play
The Miami Marlins got the win Tuesday in their return to play after eights days suspended due to a coronavirus outbreak on the team in which 17 players tested positive.
Packed with replacement players for those who have the virus, the Marlins beat the Baltimore Orioles, 4-0. Those players filling out the Marlins’ 30-man roster included some from the team’s minor league camp, others that they get through trades, and a few taken off the waiver wire.
