Cubs' Lester Leaves Home Opener With Hamstring Tightness

Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lester left the team's home opener in the third inning Monday with hamstring tightness. Lester will get an MRI today and the visiting Pirates didn’t escape unscathed either. Pittsburgh starter Jameson Taillon took a liner off his head, but completed the inning.


Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu Strained Groin

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu left his start Monday night against the St. Louis Cardinals with a strained left groin. That’s the same injury that sidelined him for 90 games last season. Ryu is 2-0 with a 3.07 ERA this season and it’s not yet known how long he might be out.


Orioles' Davis Extends Hitless Streak

Baltimore Orioles slugger Chris Davis extended his hitless streak to 49 consecutive at-bats Monday night against Oakland to set a new Major League record. Davis now holds the record for the longest hitless streak by a position player in history.


Twins Trade Tyler Austin

The Minnesota Twins have traded first baseman/outfielder Tyler Austin to the San Francisco Giants for minor league outfielder Malique Ziegler.
