Effingham St .Anthony High School moved its baseball record to 5-1 on the season by downing Flora, 8-5 in action Tuesday.

The Bulldogs scored four runs in the third inning. Flora came back with five runs to take the lead in the top of the fifth but St. Anthony retaliated with three in the bottom of the frame and tacked on a final run in the sixth.

St. Anthony banged out four doubles in the contest. Blake Niebrugge connected for two singles, a double and drove in three runs while Kaden Fearday had a single, double and two RBI, Collin Koester a single and double and Dylan Guy a double.

Aaron Webb picked up the pitching win after he came on in the fifth inning and allowed two hits, one run, no walks and struck out two.

At Effingham

Effingham never trailed in taking a 5-2 victory over Mount Vernon Tuesday.

Zach Lee, Austin Waldhoff and Jackson Lee combined to throw a no-hitter. Z. Lee went 3.1 innings with seven strikeouts. Waldhoff threw 1.2 innings allowing two runs with two walks and two strikeouts. J. Lee finished out the final two innings with six strikeouts.

The Hearts tallied two runs in the second and two in the third before finishing out with a run in the fifth.

Brayton Poland had some big hits with a double, home run and three RBI. J. Lee had a single, double and two RBI and Cooper Jackson two singles.

The Hearts are now 4-0 on the season.

Effingham fell in the junior varsity game, 12-11. The Hearts had nine hits led by Jack Blickem with two doubles and three RBI, Kalen Reardon with a single, double and two RBI, Matthew Loy and Brayden Pals with a double and an RBI each and Dylan Cunningham with a double.

South Central pounded Mulberry Grove 14-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule Tuesday.

The Cougars had their hitting shoes on, finishing with a total of 17 for the game. Chase Dodson led the way with two singles, two doubles and four RBI.

DJ Roberts had two singles, a double and an RBI while Andrew Lybarger and Hunter Brandt added two singles and three RBI each. Aaron Patten tallied two singles and two RBI.

Altamont improved to 5-2 on the season by thrashing Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran, 20-0 in five innings Tuesday.

The Indians took a 2-0 first inning lead and never looked back. They had 13 hits in the contest led by Noah Teasley with a single, three doubles and four RBI. Dakota Kuhlman and Alek Biggs had a triple and two RBI each while Jacob Robbins added a double and three RBI. Kaden Eirhardt had two singles.

Grant Schmidt picked up the pitching win going two innings allowing no hits, no walks and striking out four. AJ Kopplin went three innings allowing two hits, one walk and striking out one.

At Centralia

At Louisville

North Clay/Clay City edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead. Dieterich moved ahead 2-1 in the top of the third but the Cardinals had a nine-run third and a four-run fourth.

The Cardinals finished with 10 hits in the contest while Dieterich committed five errors.

Ethan Burkett led the way with a single, double, home run and seven RBI. Tyson Jones and Briar Repking added two singles and an RBI each while Elijah McCrary had a double.

Jones was the winning pitcher going 4.2 innings allowing three hits, three runs, five walks and striking out seven.

Dieterich was led by Matthew Hunzinger with two singles and two RBI.

At Louisville

At Brownstown

Brownstown/St. Elmo edged National Trail Conference opponent Neoga, 4-3 in action Tuesday. The game had been scheduled for Neoga but was moved to Brownstown due to wet grounds.

The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the fifth. BSE went ahead 2-1 in the top of the sixth but Neoga regained the lead with two in the bottom of the frame. BSE then won the game with two runs in the top of the seventh.

Rocky Himes had a single, double and an RBI to lead the winners.

Neoga was led by Trenton Moore with two singles and Kaden Young with two singles and two RBI.

BSE improves to 4-2 on the season.
