St. A, Neoga, T-town, BSE Claim Baseball Wins

Effingham St. Anthony High School put together a three-run first and a three-run third to down North Clay (Louisville) 6-3 in baseball action Monday.

Joseph Kabbes homered to jump start the Bulldogs in the right direction in the opening inning, scoring the three runs.

Jacob Guy, Colin Koester and Aaron Webb each drove in runs during the third inning.

Gavin Braunecker moved his pitching record to 4-0. He went 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out two and walking one. Kayden Fearday and Austin Kline entered the game out of the bullpen and helped close the game in relief.

Aldrich had a single, home run and an RBI for the Cardinals while Blank added a single and double and Jones two singles.

St. Anthony improves to 6-2 on the season.

At Neoga

Neoga and South Central played to a 1-1 opening inning tie before the Cougars moved ahead 2-1 in the top of the third. However, Neoga came back with two in the bottom of the frame and two more in the fourth to lead 5-2. South Central tallied a final run in the fifth.

Caleb Hill had a double, home run and two RBI for the winners while Drew Ramert had a single, home run and one RBI. Lane Andrews added two singles and an RBI.

South Central was led by Hunter Brandt with two singles, a home run and an RBI, Trent Geiler a home run and an RBI and Ryan McCown two singles and an RBI.

At Neoga

Teutopolis pushed its record to 19-5 on the season with an 8-3 victory over Altamont Monday.

The Indians held a 3-2 first inning lead but T-town tied in the second then had a three-run fifth and a two-run seventh.

The Wooden Shoes banged out 12 hits led by Cody Jansen with a single, home run and four RBI and Jackson Goeckner with two singles, a double and an RBI. Lee Hardiek added a double while Eric Kremer and Drew Thoele had two singles each. Thoele drove in two runs while Kremer had one RBI.

Altamont was led by Wyatt Vaughn with two singles, a double and an RBI, Jacob Robbins with two doubles and an RBI and Alek Biggs with a double. The Indians drop to 11-11.

Brownstown/St. Elmo blanked Mulberry Grove to the tune of 11-0 in five innings Monday.

BSE had a two-run first then tacked on six more in the fourth and ended the game with three in the fifth.

Lewis Brown had a single, double and two RBI while Caleb Atwood and Wade Ireland had two singles and an RBI each. David Stine had a single and three RBI.

BSE improves to 5-9 on the season.

Edwards County (Albion) claimed a 6-3 victory over Newton in action Monday.

Edwards County tallied all six of its runs in the first inning. Newton scored its lone run in the fifth.

The Eagles outhit Edwards County, 11-10. Galloway had two singles and a double while Stark added a single, double and two RBI.
