Mason Hull says he has enjoyed playing baseball since he was a little boy. He now has the opportunity to play for four more seasons.

The Effingham High School senior has signed his letter of intent to play college baseball at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.

Hull said he has been attracted to Missouri State for some time; the school, the Springfield community, and those he has talked with that are part of the Bears' program. He hopes to pursue a degree in the medical field. He got to know more about the Missouri State program through his play on the St. Louis Pirates summer baseball team.

Hull is getting ready to play his senior season on the Effingham Hearts basketball team, but Hearts baseball coach Chris Fleener is looking forward to having Hull around for one more campaign in the spring. Hull has played shortstop for the Hearts, but has also done some catching, and Fleener said he expects to have him on the mound some this season.

Fleener said Hull is very team-oriented and said his personality is just as good as his talent.
