ALTAMONT -- Altamont Junior High School broke a 0-0 tie with a two-run third before Effingham St. Anthony knotted the score at 2-2 in the fourth. Altamont then came back with two runs in the sixth and claimed a 4-2 win in baseball competition Tuesday.

Altamont had eight hits in the contest led by Delaney with three singles and an RBI. The other five singles were split across five players.

St. Anthony had four hits, all singles, by Tingley, Braunecker, Moore and Ashton.

Kollman pitched a three-hitter over five innings and Delaney came on in the sixth to finish out the contest with a one-hitter and three strikeouts. Altamont improves to 4-1 on the season.

At Mattoon

Teutopolis had a two-run sixth then held off Mattoon for a 9-7 victory. T-town held a 7-6 lead in the fifth then tacked on two runs in the sixth. Mattoon came back with a run in the bottom of the seventh but fell short.

Hardiek had a single, two home runs and five RBI for the winners. Hemmen added a single and triple. Ungrund picked up the pitching win. He went five innings, allowing six hits, six runs, two walks and two strikeouts.

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) handed Fairfield a 10-3 loss in action Tuesday evening.

North Clay broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the second with four runs and never looked back. Four players had two hits each for the winners. Bible had two singles, Clifton two singles and three RBI, Jones two singles and two RBI and Fleener two singles and an RBI.
