Cardinals Beat Dodgers, Take NLDS Lead

(St. Louis, MO) -- Kolten Wong blasted a two-run homer in the seventh inning to lift the Cardinals to a 3-1 win over the Dodgers in Game Three of the National League Division Series from Busch Stadium. Wong's homer broke a 1-all tie and gives St. Louis a two-games-to-one lead in the best-of-five series.  Matt Carpenter also went deep for the Cardinals while John Lackey picked up the win with eight strikeouts over seven innings of one-run ball.

Trevor Rosenthal closed it out for the save.  Hanley Ramirez tied the game in the sixth with an RBI double to score Yasiel Puig, who broke a streak of seven straight strikeouts with a triple. Hyun-Jin Ryu gave up a run over six innings while Scott Elbert was charged with the loss. The teams will play Game Four from St. Louis on Tuesday.

The Cardinals and Dodgers go it again today in Game Four of their National League Division Series. Shelby Miller is scheduled to start for St. Louis, while Los Angeles counters with Clayton Kershaw. If necessary, a deciding Game Five will be played Thursday at Dodger Stadium.


Nationals Down Giants In NLDS G3

(San Francisco, CA) -- The Washington Nationals are back in their National League Division Series after a 4-1 win over the San Francisco Giants in Game Three at AT&T Park. The Nats broke through for three runs in the seventh inning, with two scoring when Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner threw away a sac-bunt by catcher Wilson Ramos.

Asdrubal Cabrera added an RBI single and Bryce Harper belted a long homer in the ninth for Washington. Doug Fister pitched seven innings of four-hit ball for the win.  Bumgarner gave up three runs in seven frames to take the loss. Brandon Crawford broke up the shutout with a sac-fly in the ninth. The Giants still lead the best-of-five set two-games-to-one. San Francisco will host Game Four Tuesday, with Ryan Vogelsong opposing Gio Gonzalez.
