Altamont Beats N.C., BSE Edges Dieterich

ALTAMONT -- Altamont High School took the early lead and never looked back in a 7-2 win over North Clay (Louisville) in high school baseball action Tuesday.

The Indians struck in the first inning as N. Miller drew a leadoff walk. With one out, K. Wolff singled. Winn reached on a walk and Guerettaz singled home two runs. Ricketts singled and C. Miller drew a walk. When the dust had cleared, the Indians led 3-0.

Altamont came back with two in the second and one in the third before finishing out with one in the sixth. Wolff finished with a single, double and an RBI while Guerrettaz added two singles and three RBI. C. Miller had a single, double and an RBI and Ricketts two singles.

The Cardinals had two runs in the third and fifth. Aldrich had a single, double and an RBI.

At Dieterich

The game went 12 innings before Brownstown/St. Elmo pulled out a 3-2 National Trail Conference win over Dieterich.

BSE tallied two runs in the first and held that lead until Dieterich scored a run in the sixth and tied the score in the seventh. Drake Hall led off the 12th with a single. Landon Feezel then drove in pinchrunner Koonce with a double for the game-winner.

BSE had five hits. Hall picked up the pitching win in relief of N. Flowers. He went 4 2/3 innings, allowing no runs on two hits and five strikeouts. BSE improved to 1-0.

Shoemaker led Dieterich with a single and double. The Maroons drop to 0-1 on the season.
