Donald "Dewey" Morris (68) of Effingham

Donald “Dewey” Morris Sr., 68, of Effingham, passed away on Friday afternoon September 13, 2013, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18th at Branch Side Cemetery in Gays, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17th at Hall Funeral Chapel, Effingham. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Donald was born April 12, 1945 in Shelbyville, the son of Wanda Morris.He was a mechanic in the Effingham area after serving the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He also ran his own business for a while. Donald was a lifetime member of the VFW in Effingham. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He married Carol Jackson and they had two daughters, Rosemarie (Allen) Walden of Woodlawn and Lyndell (Jim) Baker of Watson. They later divorced and he married Zena Nance of Bethany on May 17, 1969. Together they had two sons, Donald Morris Jr. (Kelly) of Texas and Joey Morris (Danielle) of Effingham.
Don is survived by his wife, Zena of 44 years, two daughters, two sons, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brothers, David Tipsword of Effingham and Merton Scroggins (special friend, Brian Jones) of Farina.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father and grandparents.
