Lynn Springer, 69, of Stewardson died at 9:50am Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Effingham Rehabilitation and Care Center.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 30th at 11:00 a.m. with interment in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson, Illinois with military rites, so that family and friends can pay their last respects.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Stewardson Veteran’s Memorial Fund or the donor’s choice.

Lynn was born August 21, 1942 in Stanford, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Ada (Erisman) Springer.  Lynn graduated from Stanford High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1966.  Upon release from the service, Lynn began his long career in the automotive industry working at Firestone and C.W. Frey Chrysler-Plymouth in Bloomington, and with St. Louis Motor Parts.  In 1973 he purchased a Chevrolet dealership in Stewardson, and owned Springer Chevrolet for 14 years until it sold in 1987.  Lynn continued his career with Doehring Truck Parts and owned Effingham Transmission Specialist in Effingham for several years until the business was sold in 2000 due to health issues.  Lynn was active in the community as a member of the Stewardson Lions Club, Wilbur Broughton American Legion Post #611, and Holland Township Supervisor for many years.  Lynn married Rebecca Kay Hall on August 13, 1963.

Surviving are his wife, Rebecca of Shumway; daughters: Lisa Helton of Strasburg, Il.; Leslie (Jim) Allen of Shumway, Il.; Lindsay (Dan) Ramirez of Plainfield, Il.; grandchildren: Taylor Helton, Lucas Helton and Benjamin Helton of Strasburg, Il.; Gabriel Allen and Jacob Allen of Shumway, Il.; Shelby Ramirez of Plainfield, Il. and sister: Dorothy (Harold) Alderman of LeRoy, Il.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lester Springer.
