David Walter Light (73) of Effingham

David Walter Light, 73, of Effingham, Illinois passed away at 1:30 am on Wednesday April 24, 2024, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 am on Wednesday May 1, 2024, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Greenup, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday April 30, 2024, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo. Burial will be in the Light Cemetery.
David was born on November 26, 1950, in Effingham, Illinois to Dean and Mildred (Nuxoll) Light.
Survivors include his siblings Richard Light of Ely, Minnesota; Michael Light of Toledo, Illinois; Anita (Earl) Niccum of Toledo, Illinois; Jane (Bill) Short of Litchfield, Illinois; Jerome (Vicki) Light of Toledo, Illinois; Deanna (Garry) Stewart of Toledo, Illinois; Tori McElravy of Toledo, Illinois; Tony Light of Toledo, Illinois; Vincent (Deborah) Light of Greenup, Illinois; Chris Light of Toledo, Illinois; and John Light of Toledo, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law Brenda Light.
David worked in construction as a roofer for many years. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
