Virginia Hanley, age 78, of Jewett, Illinois, passed away at 11:45 PM – Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital in Mattoon, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the Meyer Funeral Home- Bishop Chapel, in Greenup, Illinois with Joe Hanley officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM – Monday, April 29, 2024, at Meyer Funeral Home-Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. The burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery in Jewett, Illinois. Virginia was born on March 4, 1946, in Glasgow, Kentucky, the daughter of Raymond and Vera (Spear) Counts. She married Max L. Hanley on September 15, 2000, and he survives.

Virginia worked at RR Donnelley & Sons for over 34 years. She loved the outdoors, riding horses, tending to her animals, cooking, and camping.

Virginia was a member of the Jewett Community Church. 

Virginia is survived by: Husband – Max L. Hanley of Jewett, Illinois; Children – James (Polly) Tolin of Arcola, Illinois; Allen Tolin of Arcola, Illinois; Quentin (Erin) Hanley of Mattoon, Illinois, and Brandi Hanley (Chad Vail) of Champaign, Illinois; Grandchildren – Jessica, Allison, Hillary, Brock, Briannae, Layla and Tuesday; 6 Great-Grandchildren; Siblings – Kenny Counts and Jean (Delbert) Dowell

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents.
