Ronnie Dean Carlen Sr., 82, of Greenup, passed away at 1:45 pm on Monday April 22, 2024, at the Heartland Nursing and Rehab in Casey, IL.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Monday April 29, 2024, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday April 28, 2024, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Harmony Cemetery.

Ronnie was born on June 19, 1941, in Casey, IL, to Russell Dale Sr. and Catherine (Richardson) Carlen. He married Elaine Gentry on May 14, 1960.

Survivors include his loving wife Elaine, sons Ronnie Dean (Linda) Carlen Jr., Randy (Donna) Carlen, Dirk (Debbie) Carlen; daughters Robyn (Greg) Morgan, Cathy (Bruce) Feltner; grandchildren: Samantha (Marcus) Adams, Becky (Jeff) Sims, Sierra Feltner, Josh Feltner, Nicole (Matt) Hageny, Clint (Breanna) Carlen, Dexter (Michael) Carlen, Jarod (Danielle) Carlen, Kim Lyons (Chad Hoopingarner), Ryan Mars, Chelsea (Cody) Dolly, Curtis (Jodi) Carlen, Cole (Bree) Carlen, and Cammy Carlen; great grandchildren: Payton, Nat, Corey, Evan, Veronica, Ivan, Riley, Faith, Kaisen, Kyler, Kolten, Josiah, Eisley, Kail, Elizabeth, Makenzi, Sophia, Elijah, Landyn, Mavery, Elliott, Landon, Charlee, Jordyn, Lynlee, Adriana, George, Hunter, Hailey, Braylon, Dylan (Jazzmine), Jimmie, Jacob, Kyndal; great-great grandchild: Oaklyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Russell Carlen Jr., grandsons R.D. and Bryce Carlen. Ronnie worked as a Machinist at Anamet for over forty years and was always a farmer at heart. He enjoyed being outdoors, often spending time mushroom hunting, and fishing. Ronnie was also an avid fan of the STL Cardinals. He was a proud leader in 4-H for sixteen years and was the Superintendent of the 4-H Horse Show at the Cumberland County fair. Ronnie was a member of the Plum Grove Church.
