Kathryn (Kathy) Storm, 67, of Vandalia passed away at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family and entered into her heavenly home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 8, 2024 at Bethel Baptist Church, Route 185 West, Vandalia with Dr. Ben Foxworth and Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Visitation will be for 2 hours prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Fayette County Cancer Fund or Bethel Baptist Youth Ministry. Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Kathryn Kay Emerick was born on Sunday, March 24, 1957 in Vandalia, IL to Robert E. and Mary Ellen (Brewer) Emerick. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Vandalia for 45 years. She married Kevin Storm on July 31, 1982 in Brownstown. Together they celebrated almost 42 years of marriage. She had worked for Washburn’s Hat Factory (5 yrs.), Vandalia, Effingham Cable (2 yrs.), Dixon Ticonderoga Pencil Factory (15 yrs.), Vandalia and caretaker for 32 years for their special needs son, Kaleb Wade Storm at home.

She is survived by: her husband, Kevin Storm, Vandalia; sons, Kaleb Storm, Vandalia and David (wife, Carianna) Denton, St. Ann, MO; sister-cousin, Julie (Roger) Myers, Effingham; Granddaughters, Bryanna (Tim) Cope, Alyssa Denton, Kayla Denton, Bethany (fiancé, Kenny) Denton; Grandsons, Trenton Denton, Treyton Denton, and Tyston Denton; Great Grandchildren, Audriella, Abbigail, Asher, Annabelle, Willow and Wynonna.

Kathy was preceded in death by: her parents and brother, Steve Emerick.
