Robert B. Faulkner, 85, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away at 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Visitation will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Darin Hansen officiating. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests memorials may be made to Midwest Agriculture Scholarship Foundation, New Hope Church in Effingham, Neoga High School Track Team, or EARS. Robert was born on September 28, 1938, at Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Bruce and Wilma Faulkner. He married Joyce Stover on September 28, 1958 at First Christian Church, Galesburg and she survives. Robert was raised on a grain and livestock farm in Knox County, Illinois. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1956 participating in football, track, FFA and other school activities. Robert and Joyce resided in Knoxville, Illinois where Robert began his 39-year career with the FS Services/Growmark system. He spent one year with Knox County Oil Company in Galesburg. They relocated to Monroe Service Company (FS) in Waterloo, Illinois where he served as crops salesman and Crops Division Manager for six years. In 1965, Robert and Joyce and their two young sons relocated to Lasalle County Farm Supply in Ottawa, Illinois, where he served as Crops Division Manager and then Assistant Manager. In 1968, Robert was promoted to General Manager at Ogle Service Company in Oregon, Illinois where he served 4 years. In 1972, he was promoted to Eastern Illinois Regional Marketing Manager in Bloomington, Illinois for 4 years. In 1976, he was employed as General Manager for Effingham-Clay Service Company in Effingham, Illinois where he completed the last 22 years of his career and retired in 1997. He has spent all his life treasuring his FS/Growmark family. Robert enjoyed traveling with his wife and two sons on fishing, sightseeing and motorcycling trips. After retirement, Robert and Joyce traveled extensively through the United States and Canada in their motorhomes. They built a new home, which they have enjoyed. Through the years, they have enjoyed time with their family, friends and neighbors.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Faulkner; sons, Jeff (wife, Wendy) Faulkner of Neoga and Todd Faulkner of St. Elmo; grandsons, Deacon (wife, Donna) Faulkner, Daniel Thayer, and Adam (wife, Misty) Thayer; great-grandchildren, Boden Faulkner, Liam and Layla Thayer, and Evan Holt; brother-in-law, Bill Harvey of Effingham, and nieces and nephews, Steven, Sandy, and Mark.
