Adolph “Sonny” Will, 72, of Teutopolis, IL passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield with his loving family by his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Francis Church followed by a 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Sonny was born on March 2, 1951, in Montrose, IL, the son of Adolph and Florence (Heuerman) Will. He married Sharon Hartke on April 7, 1973. He and Sharon were married over 50 years, had 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren, all which he loved deeply. He was a very talented and meticulous woodworker, avid fisherman, competitive pitch player, and enjoyed teaching the grandkids how to shoot pool. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and loved watching them play sports. His closet was filled with St. Anthony Bulldogs, Heaters Baseball and Tri-Valley Vikings gear. He also loved anything chocolate especially chocolate covered peanuts. Sonny was a member of St. Francis Church, Men’s Sodality and the Knights of Columbus. He spent his youth years working on the family farm, was a mechanic at John Deere, spent 30 years in the printing industry and finished his working years in the cabinetry business.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; daughters, Jennifer (Leon) Westendorf of Effingham andJody (Brad) Thoele of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Reagan and Collin Westendorf and Kaelyn, Brennan and Lena Thoele; siblings, Roger (Ruth) Will, Maurice Will, Arlene ”Toots” (Dan) Flood, Alice (John) Hendrix, Rita Wendt, Curt (Tracy) Will and Annette (Duane) Niemerg; and In-laws, Dolores Will, Rodney (Sandy) Hartke and Diane (Charlie) Buening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; In-laws, Joseph and Alice Hartke; sisters, Mardell Buenker and Vera Kroeger; brother, Alfie Will; brothers-in-law, Donald Buenker, Jim Kroeger, and Ralph Wendt; and sister-in-law, Anita Will.
