Parker Upton (9) of Charleston

Parker Upton, age 9, of Charleston, IL., passed away at 10:20 am Saturday, January 20, 2024, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm noon on Friday January 26, 2024, at the Salem United Methodist Church: 450 County Road 1350 E. Toledo, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm noon on Friday January 26, also at the church. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family.
Parker was born on August 15, 2014, in Mattoon, IL to Chris and Mackenzie (Blair) Upton. Survivors include her parents, siblings Tinleigh and Dean Upton; grandparents Rob Upton, and Tom and Shelli Blair; great grandparents Teresa Houser, and Ezra Dean Newlin; aunts and uncles Samantha Tanner ( Dustin Meinecke), Jordan Blair (Ashley Evans), Kreig Upton, Robbie Upton (Toni Hawn), Kirk Upton, and Sena Upton; cousins Lidiya Blair (William Thomas), Zane Tanner, Eli Tanner, Ady Tanner, Bella Hilabrand, Mitch Abernathy, River Thomas, and Ava Nixon; and special friend Loran Dundee.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother Beth Upton, great grandmothers Diane Blair, Sharon Craig, and Ruth Newlin; and great grandfather Raymond ‘Bud’ Houser.
Parker was in the 4th grade at Jefferson Middle School in Charleston. Some of Parker's favorite joys were being with her family, singing, dancing, and whip cream and sprinkles. Parker loved helping others and spreading joy. Her favorite thing to say was “ Best Day Ever!” In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made: In Memory of Parker, to the Ronald McDonald House. They were such an incredible godsend in their time of need.
