Martin “Marty” Dale Pagel, age 62, of Altamont, Illinois passed away at 12:34 a.m. Thursday January 18th, 2024 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at Gieseking Funeral Home in Altamont, Illinois. Pastor Jim Sporleder will be officiating, there will be a Visitation from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may go to the Effingham Humane Society or the donor’s choice. Marty was born February 21, 1961 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Ines (Evans) Pagel. He married Kimberly Sue Jenkins on October 17th, 1981 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Effingham, Illinois. They had one daughter, Miranda Danielle.
He enjoyed camping, sitting by a fire pit anywhere & watching football. He rooted for the Bears & the Cubs. He got to see the Cubs win the World Series in 2016. Marty never knew a stranger and loved driving his beloved dog, Lucky Pagel, along with friends and family on his golf cart. His proudest accomplishment was watching his grandsons grow into fine young men.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, and his dog, Lucky all of Altamont, his grandsons Dalton Davis and Deken Pagel both of Effingham; brothers, Richard Pagel, Gerald Pagel, Clarence Pagel Jr., Daniel Pagel, Michael Pagel; sisters, Judy Crosier, Carolyn Campton, Janice Wallace, many nephews, nieces, great nephews, and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ines Pagel; brothers, Harley, Bobby, Jackie Keith, Mark Herman, Thomas Wayne, and Gary Allen.
