Fred was born on May 25, 1946, in Burnet, Texas the son of Frederick L. and Minnie Pearl (Whitley) Sylvester. Fred married Cynthia McQueen on March 21, 2011 at the Louisville First Baptist Church, and they shared 12 years of marriage. Fred's career as an engineer in the radio and television business was both distinguished and fulfilling. He dedicated many years of service to Westcot Prime Media in Dallas, Texas, where his expertise and innovative spirit were greatly valued. Outside of work, Fred's interests were as varied as they were rich. A master craftsman, he found solace and joy in woodworking, creating beautiful pieces that were both functional and artistic. His fascination with electronics led him to build his own computer from scratch—a testament to his patience and technical skill. Additionally, Fred was an avid gun and ammo collector, and he took pride in constructing his own ammunition, a hobby that combined his love for precision and history. One of Fred's most cherished pastimes was collecting old toy steam trains. His vast collection was not only a source of personal enjoyment but also a treasure trove of history that he loved to share with others. His passion for travel saw him exploring new places far and wide, with a particular fondness for lighthouses. These majestic structures along coastlines around the world captivated his imagination and fed his love for adventure. When at home, Fred could often be found immersed in a good book. His extensive library was a reflection of his wide-ranging interests and his never-ending quest for knowledge. He believed in the power of stories to transport and transform, and he instilled this love of reading in his family.

Fred is survived by his wife: Cindy Sylvester of Newton, Illinois; his 2 sons: Kelly Sylvester of Texas, Craig (Kadie) Sylvester of Texas; 2 grandsons: Angus Sylvester, and Patrick Sylvester.
