Ruth Annetta Eastep, age 84, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 4:26 PM – Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Helia Healthcare in Newton, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM – Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. The burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery in Greenup, Illinois. Ruth Annetta was born on May 11, 1939, in Greenup, Illinois, the daughter of H. Ernest and Dorothy Belle (Fox) Denny. She married Earl Vernon Eastep, and he preceded her in death in 1988. Ruth worked in Newton for many years at United Technologies, E.R. Moore Cap and Gown Factory and at the Jasper County Senior Center. Ruth loved her family, she enjoyed working puzzles, crafting, and coloring. She enjoyed listening to music.
Ruth is survived by: 4 Children - Teresa Bell of Spiro, Oklahoma; Elda Leonard of Newton, Illinois; Kevin (Teresa) Eastep of Charleston, Illinois; and Mary (Junior) Tarr of Olney, Illinois Son-in-law- Steve Gordon of Jefferson, Georgia 17 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren also survive.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Patricia Gordon, granddaughter Amanda Leonard, and sisters Hazel Lane and Anne Black.
