Deborah Kay “Debbie” Worman, 63, of Effingham, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, surrounded by her family and friends.

Per Debbie’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to Fear Nothing, NF Midwest or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.

Debbie was born April 29, 1960 in Effingham, the daughter of Richard J. and Pauline (Ruholl) Worman. For over 35 years, Debbie worked at the Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Winnetka and in 2016 received the Hadley Recognition of Outstanding Teamwork. Most recently, she served as a resident assistant at The Glenwood in Effingham. Debbie was the past president of Dignity Chicago and the co-chairperson for Great Steps for NF, an annual neurofibromatosis walk in the Midwest. She was known for being compassionate, selfless, and tenacious.

Debbie is survived by her wife, Peggy Ann Patton; her parents; brothers, Ron, Bob (Carletta), and Dennis (Lori); sister, Carla (John) Kaufman; nine nieces and nephews; twenty great-nieces and nephews; her lifelong friends, “The Wild Women” and her four-legged friend, her “little boy”, Buick.
