Betty A. Mueller, a cherished soul and beloved family matriarch, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, in Alma, Illinois, formerly of Stewardson, Illinois.

Born on December 23, 1955, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Opal (Davis) Nelson.

On March 10, 1979, Betty married the love of her life, Corkie Mueller, who survives her. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and enduring memories. Their union was further blessed with a daughter, Mildred (John) Cowger of Alma and the arrival of her three cherished grandchildren, Sebastian Cowger (Bailey Henderson) of Kinmundy, Brooke Cowger, and Teagan Cowger, both of Alma. She also leaves behind her devoted sister, Donna (Randall) Bohnhoff of Montrose.

Betty's life was marked by her dedication to her family, her faith, and her community. She was a proud member of the Stewardson United Methodist Church, where she found great solace and fellowship. Her career was as diverse as it was fulfilling, working at the Ramada and Service Master, both in Effingham, contributing to the Stewardson-Strasburg Schools, and in childcare services. Betty's interests were a reflection of her love for nature and her community. She found great joy in gardening, tending to her vegetables and flowers with a nurturing touch. Her presence was a familiar and welcome sight at the Farmer's Market, where she took pride in sharing the bounty of her labors. More than anything, she cherished time spent with her family, especially supporting her grandchildren at their ball games, where she was their most enthusiastic fan.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson.
