David Wolf, 74, of Altamont, died at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Mattoon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont with Rev. Dr. James F. Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery with military rites by Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post #7676 and Grobengieser-Fischer American Legion Post #512. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2024 at the church. Memorials may be made to Altamont Lutheran Interparish Schools or Altamont Masonic Lodge #533 Scholarship Fund. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

David Paul Wolf was born in Vandalia, Illinois on Saturday, April 23, 1949 to August William and Elizabeth Marie (Meyers) Wolf. He was 1 of 9 children.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Wolf; daughter, Theresa (Gary) Loy; sons, Ronnie Klitzing and David (Denise) Klitzing, all of Altamont; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews; brothers, Walter Wolf, Wikieup, AZ, Melvin (Debbie) Wolf, Effingham, IL, Larry Wolf, Raleigh, NV and sister, Ruth Ann (Todd) Lockwood, Wilmington, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wayne, William, Edward and Richard and sisters-in-law, Barbie Wolf and Jacquelyn Wolf.

David proudly served in the United States Army and was a veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of the Illinois National Guard 130th Infantry Division. He was a member and past commander of Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post #7676, Grobengieser-Fischer American Legion Post #512 and Altamont Masonic Lodge #533. He was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont, IL.
