Larry DeVantier, 81, of Altamont, died at 11:39 a.m. Friday, December 22, 2023 at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Jason Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Altamont with military rites by Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post #7676 and Grobengieser-Fischer American Legion Post #512. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2023 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for the benefit of Hope Lodge, St. Louis, Missouri.

Larry Edward DeVantier was born on Monday, December 7, 1942 in Altamont to Edward M. and Pauline M. (Wolff) DeVantier. He married Carolyn L. Ingle on December 22, 1962 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont. He was retired from the State of Illinois as a Social Security Disability Examiner. He served as President of NADE for two years traveling around the country meeting new people and old friends. He enjoyed his retirement years fishing and golfing at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was a lifetime member of Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post #7676, Altamont and the Elks Club.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by daughter, Kristen (Bart) Duesdieker, Mahomet; sisters, Joanie Casleton, Moberly, MO and Denise (Gordy) Stine, St. Elmo; brother, Bruce (Karen) DeVantier, Murphysboro; grandchildren, Taylor (Jonah) Antosch, Rockford and Eric Duesdieker, Mesa, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Sam Casleton.
