Carol Dooley (62) of Newton

Carol Diane (Mulvey) Dooley, age 62, of Sainte Marie, Illinois passed away at 11:00 PM – Monday, December 18, 2023, at home, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM – Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Carol was born on December 24, 1960, in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of Larry Woodrow and Barbara Ann (Cooley) Mulvey. She was raised and attended school in Newton, and graduated with the Class of 1979, from Newton Community High School.
Carol was a secretary and bookkeeper for many years. Later she helped her “hubby” Jim Nix on the farm near Sainte Marie.
Carol was a loving mother to Phillip Randall and Stephen Ross Dooley and was a devoted “Gigi” to her granddaughters Drew and Korra. She especially loved having them over on the weekends and having fun on the farm.
Carol enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching the Packers and spending time with her sons. Her sense of humor and spunky personality will be missed.
Carol is survived by: Husband of 23 years - Jim Nix of Saint Marie, Illinois; Mother - Barbara Mulvey of Newton, Illinois; Children - Ross (Alex) Dooley of Mason, Illinois; Randall Dooley of Hidalgo, Illinois; Ashley (Nicholas) Powers of Newton, Illinois; and Alyssa (Skyler) Acklin of Wheeler, Illinois; Grand Children - Drew Anderson-Dooley, Korra Anderson-Dooley, Brooklynn Powers, and Fayelynn Powers; Siblings- Jeanie (Max) Massey, Pearland, Texas; David (Beth) Mulvey, Henderson, Nevada; and Mark (Pam) Mulvey of Dundas, Illinois; Nieces And Nephew - Tami Michl (Doug), Allison (Anthony) Meinhart, Jared (Lacy) Finn, Melyssa (Ben) Borgic, Monyca (Nick) Matson, Mariyah (Kristin) Mulvey, and Lyndsey Mulvey; Great Nieces and Nephews - Hunter, Graci, Marli and Kinli Michl; Gavin and Mabri Meinhart; Mackenzie, Camden, and Jaxon Borgic; Emma and Lily Jones; and Vivian Motch; Mother-in-law – LaVaun Nix of Sainte Marie, Illinois.
Carol was preceded in death by father, grandparents Dwight Cooley, Vera Cooley, and Lucile Cooley. Woodrow and Helen Mulvey, sister Marsha Finn Antonik, granddaughter Trinity Powers and her furever friend “Freddie.”
