Lissa Alice “Lissie” Tate, age 100, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 6:22 AM Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Helia Healthcare in Newton, Illinois.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Brick Cemetery northwest of Newton, Illinois.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left by clicking here

Lissa Alice, better known as “Lissie” was born on October 11, 1923, in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Wade and Lissa (Gosnell) Adkins.  She married H. Dale Tate on May 28, 1941, and became a mother the next year.  To this union three children were born, Kenneth Tate, Linda Tate Schuch, and Cathy Tate Clark.  Dale preceded her in death on August 2, 1976.

Lissie graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1941.  She was a housewife, mother, grandmother, and helped Dale farm for several years. She was a member of the Fairview Christian Church.

Lissie enjoyed growing flowers around her home, even having the ditches full of iris in all colors. She enjoyed spending time with family and often drove to Peoria to visit.  She not only raised three children, but also played big part in raising her grandchildren, David, Diane, Karen, Mandy, Ryan, Duane, Doug, Bill, Donna, and Ben.  Sometimes having all ten at one time.

Lissie is survived by:

Children – Kenneth (Holly) Tate and Cathy Clark

10 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-great Granddaughter

Lissie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Linda Schuch, grandchildren David Schuch, Karen Tate, and Ben Clark, daughter-in-law Sharon Tate, sister Juel Probst, brothers Paul and Dale Adkins.
