Bart H. Houser, 72, of Troy, Mo. and formerly of Hidalgo, IL passed away on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday October 11, 2023, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to service time on Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Burial with Military Rites by Cumberland County Veterans will be in the Hays Cemetery west of Hidalgo, IL.
Bart was born on August 30, 1951, in Hidalgo, IL to William and Loretta (Pike) Houser. He married Joanne Hensley on December 8, 1994. Surviving is his wife; daughter Rachelle “Shell” Houser; sons Kyle (Allyssa) Houser, Eric Hires, Thomas Bean Jr., Richard (Kristen) Harper and Joshua (Shawna) Harper; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; brothers Bill (Barb) Houser, and Jack (Mary) Houser; sister Diane (David) Nees.
Bart was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Jennifer Houser; one grandchild; brother Armon Whitley; two sisters B.J. Carr and Deborah Lynn Houser.
Bart served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972. He was a Purple Heart recipient during his service. He worked for many years as a truck driver. He was a life member of the VFW post 4598 in Greenup. In his spare time, he loved mushroom hunting, deer hunting and gardening.
