Billy M. Mulvey age 77, of Newton, Illinois passed away Friday, October 6, 2023, at HSHS St. John Hospital, Springfield, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Bill’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the Crain Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Mulvey and Pastor Jan Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until time of service Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton, Illinois. Military rites will be offered by Jasper Post No.20 of the American Legion.

Bill was born on June 22, 1946, the son of Woodrow and Helen (Dale) Mulvey. Bill was a graduate of Newton Community High School, Class of 1964. He served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam Conflict. He was stationed at Osan Au Base, South Korea from 1965-1967. On April 6, 1974, Billy married Diane Williams. She survives.

In his early years, Bill was a journeyman carpenter, working in construction for ten years. After the completion of the CIPS/ Ameren power plant, Bill started work in operations and water treatment. He retired after twenty-seven years at the plant.

Bill was a dedicated member and faithful servant of the Falmouth United Methodist Church. In his free time, Bill enjoyed helping others. He also liked to spend time outdoors hunting, fishing and taking fishing trips. He loved being a grandpa and taking the grandkids, as well as the neighbor kids, on side by side rides. They named the side by side “The Bat Mobile” on which they had wonderful adventures and created many memories.

Bill will be loved and remembered by his wife of forty-nine years Diane Mulvey of Newton; twin sons Kris Mulvey, wife Kelly of Roanoke, IN and Justin Mulvey of Henderson, KY; three grandchildren Sydney Mulvey, Sophie Mulvey, and Sawyer Mulvey; siblings Jack Mulvey, wife Judy of Kansas City, MO, Paul Mulvey, wife Celia of Newton, Ron Mulvey, wife Joan of Newton, Betty Ganley of Decatur, Barbara Mitchell of Champaign, Sandy Pinter of Champaign, Sharon Romack of Newton; sisters-in-law Barbara Ann Mulvey of Newton, Peg Mulvey of Newton and Gerri Brovont of Otterbein, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Delano Mulvey, Larry Mulvey and Mike Mulvey, infant sister Rosemary Katherine Mulvey and brothers-in-law Neil Ganley, Larry Mitchell and Keith Romack.
