Jim was born on July 2, 1933, in Champaign, IL, the son of Delbert and Margaret Elizabeth Roberts. He married Norma Jean Bowden on December 3, 1955 and she preceded him in death on February 17, 2012. Jim was a kind, loving, God-fearing man. He taught us so much and we are blessed with the wisdom he gave us. Jim loved his family and pups (Nubeen & Rocky) tremendously. He also enjoyed yard work and watching sports with his family; he was a lifelong Ohio State fan. We know everyone will cherish the special memories they have with him while wishing we could have made more. He truly was an incredible husband of 56 years, father, brother, grandpa, uncle, greatgrandpa, and great-great-grandpa. The love he had for us was and is endless. We will miss his spontaneous phone calls, funny stories, and big bear hugs. Although we find comfort in knowing that he is reunited in Heaven with God, his wife, daughter, granddaughter, and many other friends and family members, Jim always looked out for us here on earth and we are certain he won’t stop from Heaven. We will miss him immensely and will forever carry him with us in our hearts.

Jim is survived by his son, Mark Roberts; sister, Anita Braye; niece, Megan Dillon, nephew, James Braye; son-in-law, Richard Painter; granddaughters, Jamie (Ross) Stephens and Rickie Painter; great-grandkids, Kaytlynn Roberts, Karsyn Gouchenouer, Gynesis Roberts, Joziah Roberts and Justus Roberts; and great-great-grandson, Xaiden Gouchenouer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Margaret Elizabeth; wife, Norma Jean Roberts; daughter, Tracy Lynn Painter; and granddaughter, Kirsten Chitwood.
