John Adolph Frohning, age 79, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 8:10 AM Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at his home.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois. The burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery northwest of West Liberty, Illinois, with military rites by the Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932. Visitation will be held 9:30 to 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the church. In loving memory of John, memorials may be given to the St Thomas School. John was born on June 24, 1944, on the family farm, south of Newton, Illinois, the son of John and Leona (Ruldophi) Frohning. He graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1962. Following high school, John served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1962, until 1966. John worked as a carpenter for many years. He enjoyed going to auctions, fishing, trap shooting, watching western movies, reading, and going out to eat. John was a member of St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and Sainte Marie American Legion Post #932.

John is survived by: Siblings – Carl (Pauline) Frohning, Suzanne (George) Roth, Judy (Robert) Russell, and Mary Ann Gage; Sisters-in-law – Anita Frohning and Linda Frohning; Brother-in-law – Ray Kautz; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Raymond Frohning, Leroy (Betty) Frohning, and Fred Frohning, sisters Mildred (John) Tabb and Ethel Kautz.
