Karen S. Daugherty, 85, of Louisville, passed away at 9:43 am Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at the Clay County Hospital in Flora, Illinois.

Karen was born on October 23, 1937, in Sailor Springs, the daughter of Gerald Dean “Jerry” and Fern (O’Dell) Harris. She married Kenneth Frank Daugherty on November 30, 1955 at the Sailor Springs Baptist Church, and they shared 55 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on February 9, 2011.

Kenny and Karen farmed and raised horses together for many years. She was the head cook at North Clay for 20 years. Karen enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafting, rodeos, and baseball. Karen was also a member of the Red Brush Christian Church, Louisville.

Karen is survived by her daughter: Brenda (Norman) Garrison of Louisville; grandchildren: Stacey (Greg) Burkett of Louisville, Rachel Denton of Louisville, and Dustin Hardy of Mauston, Wisconsin; great grandchildren: Ethan Burkett, Carson Burkett, and Kaylee Denton.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a daughter: Rhonda Hardy.

It was Karen’s wishes for a private family service, with burial at the Red Brush Cemetery, Louisville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Karen’s memory to either Red Brush Christian Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and those can be sent to the funeral home.
