Richard C. Weidner, 80, of Noble, passed away June 30, 2023 in Olney, IL.

Richard was born August 3, 1942 in Clay County, IL to Royal Weidner and Emma (Buerster) Weidner. Richard married his high school sweetheart, "Margie" Kuenstler, on January 26, 1963 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, and they were rarely apart after that. Richard was a lifelong farmer and was a devout Catholic who received all of his sacraments at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin. He was a member of the Olney Knights of Columbus. Richard was a John Deere enthusiast and collected anything that had the John Deere logo on it. He also enjoyed country music and dancing the polka with his wife, Margaret. Richard was an 18-year survivor of melanoma cancer and participated in the Effingham County Relay for Life for many years. Richard took pride in his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margie Weidner of Noble; son, Allen Weidner of Olney; daughter, Donna Chesnut and husband Brent of Dieterich; son, Michael Weidner and wife Angie of Noble; son, Matthew Weidner and wife Jennifer of Dieterich; son, Mark Weidner and wife Jennifer of Olney; grandchildren, Cullen (Lauren) Chesnut, Caleb (Emilee) Chesnut, Crayton Chesnut, Emma, Grace, and Anna Weidner, Ethan, Eric, and Evan Weidner, Aidan, Aubrie, Adrienne, and Adler Weidner; great granddaughter, Presley Chesnut, and soon to be great grandson; siblings, Jeannie (Harold) Deimel of Newton, Jerome Weidner of Noble, Louella (Terry) Long of Noble, Tony (Judy) Weidner of Mesa, AZ, and Larry Weidner of Vincennes, IN; sister-in-law, JoAnne (Ken) Taylor of Olney; and numerous nieces and nephews..

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Elizabeth Weidner; brothers, Donald and Kenneth Weidner; sister, Linda Blank; brother-in-law, Gerald Blank; sister-in-law, Lisa Weidner; and nephews Derek and Nathan Weidner.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will follow Mass in Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church Building Fund.
