Eunice LaVerne Cardinal (98) of Newton

Eunice LaVerne Cardinal, age 98, of Newton passed away Thursday, June 8,at Newton Care Center, Newton, Illinois.
Private family services will be held. Entombment will be in the Crest Haven Memorial Park Mausoleum, Claremont, Illinois. Crain Funeral Home, Newton is assisting the family with arrangements.
Eunice was born on August 22, 1924, in Pike County, Indiana the eldest child of George and Rubie (Willis) Hamm. On November 25, 1945, Eunice married William LeeRoy Cardinal in Petersburg, Indiana. The couple shared fifty-seven years together before his passing on June 7, 2003. Eunice owned and operated Anneda Baby Shop and The Den in Olney, Illinois.
In her free time, Eunice served as a hospice volunteer for thirteen years. She enjoyed many types of crafts, including sewing, painting, crochet and quilting. She also enjoyed tending her flowers.
Eunice will be loved and remembered by her children Gary Cardinal and wife Marcella of Mattoon, IL, Daniel Cardinal and wife Paula of Olney, IL and Cheryl Rohr and husband Bob of Newton, IL; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband and six siblings Melvin Hamm, Vernon Hamm, Donald Hamm, Dale Hamm, Raymond Hamm and Loretta Hamm preceded her in death.
