Gerald Dwane “Jerry” Warner age 67, of Newton passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 in Macon County, Illinois.

A memorial gathering for Jerry will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Newton Masonic Lodge from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join in a pot-luck supper and time of reminiscing.  

Jerry was born on February 4, 1956, in Decatur, Illinois, the son of Dwane W. and Barbara (Tilton) Warner. Following his graduation from Newton Community High School, Jerry served in the United State Marine Corps. On March 7, 1981, Jerry married Peggy Bailey and to this union 2 sons were born, Ted and Garnet.

Jerry spent his life as a truck driver. His memberships include life memberships in both the Newton Masonic Lodge No. 216 A.F. & A.M. and the Bannack (MT) Historic Lodge 3-7-77, Robinson Western Saddle Club, past member of the Oblong Fair Board and past member and continued supporter of the 4-H club.

In his free time, Jerry enjoyed riding motorcycles and loved all things related to Volkswagen Beetles. He enjoyed horses and trail riding. His greatest love was his grandchildren. From attending their ballgames and wrestling matches to watching them show at the fair, he was their biggest fan.

Jerry will be loved and remembered by his sons Ted Warner and wife Sarah of Anaconda, Montana and Garnet Warner of Oblong; four grandchildren Lane Layman and Ryleigh Warner of Anaconda and Ash Warner and Lola Warner both of Oblong; sisters Deb Doan and husband Jerry of Claremont and Belinda Warner of Springfield.

His parents preceded him in death.
