Richard A. Nance, age 77, passed away at 6:30 PM Saturday, May 6, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Richland County Human Society or the First Presbyterian Church, both of Olney, Illinois. Richard was born on May 16, 1945, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the son of Elvis and Retha (Peneton) Nance. He married Paula Ruth on May 28, 1977, in Belvidere, Illinois. Richard owned and operated Nance Contractor Service for over 50 years. He was a perfectionist in whatever he did and was known for professionalism. Richard was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Olney. He was also a former member of the Eagles, Elks and Sons of the American Legion. Richard loved to spend time with his family, friends and his fur babies. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.

Richard is survived by: Wife of 45 years – Paula E. Nance of Olney, Illinois; Son – Richard A. “Ricky” (Tamera) Nance, II of Benton, Kentucky; Daughter – Randi A. (Michael) Hahn of Olney, Illinois; 2 Grandchildren – Kristopher Nance and Elizabeth Hahn; Sister-in-law – Sandra L. Nelson of Belvidere, Illinois; Brother-in-law – James B. Lynch of Olney, Illinois; Brother-in-law – Fred Lynch of Olney, Illinois; Nephews – Bryan Lynch, Jason Lynch, Larry Nelson, Michael Rooker and David Chance; Nieces – Beth Rives, Debbie Nelson, Cindy Kasnoff, Katheryn Sureles, Anna Hyland and Jennifer Wright and Jennifer Meese; Several great nieces and nephews; Beloved kittys – Haley and Kaley

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law James and Eileen A. Ruth, brother-in-law William E. Lawson and sister-in-law Sonia Jean (Sunny) Lynch.

Richard was a fighter and battled metastatic prostate cancer for the last 29 months. The family would like to say “Thank You” to Dr. Saba and his nurses and Carle Hospice.
