Betty Jeanette Smith (86) of Louisville

Betty Jeanette Smith, 86, of Louisville passed away at 5:30 pm, Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, Illinois.

Betty was born on July 28, 1936 in Greenup, Illinois the daughter Raymond and Malinda (Miller) Bahrns. She married Robert L. Smith on August 30, 1957 in Altamont, and they shared 37 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 5, 1994. Betty was a homemaker and loved to care for her children and grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her 4 sons: Douglas (Kim) Smith of Louisville, Charles “Chuck” (Christina) Smith of Louisville, Stewart Smith of Louisville, C.R. (Crystal) Smith of Mason; 6 grandchildren: Kelsey (Alex) Lock of Louisville, Cara Woods of Clay City, Hannah Smith of Louisville, Lane Smith of Louisville, Cody Smith of Mason, Bryan Smith of Mason; 5 great grandchildren; brother: Richard (Jane) Bahrns of Flora; sister: Rosemary (David) Gray of O’Fallon, Illinois.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Ralph Bahrns, Dale Bahrns, Robert Bahrns; sister: Norma Spence. Brother and sister-in-law: Owen and Virginia Smith.

Funeral services to celebrate Betty’s life will be a private family service with burial following at the Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Betty’s memory to the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont or HSHS Hospice and can be sent to the funeral home.
