Rosella A. “Rosie” Kingery, 72, of Teutopolis, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at home with her daughters by her side.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis at a later date. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Rosella was born on July 17, 1950, in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Ambrose H. and Mary E. (Jansen) Funneman. She married Jerald “Tuffy” Kingery on October 26, 1974 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2005.

Rosie was raised on a farm and grew up to be very hardworking. She graduated from Teutopolis High School in 1968. Rosie was a stay-at-home mom for several years, worked for Pyroferric in Toledo, IL, and then retired from World Color Press. After retiring, she cared for her husband and watched her grandkids. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Rosie enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and canning with her siblings, cleaning, and camping and boating at Lake Shelbyville. Rosie was incredibly loving, caring, and selfless, always doing for others.

Rosie is survived by her daughters, Wendy (Steve) Bloemer of Bloomington, IL, Brandi Kingery (James Judson) of Rose Hill, and Jeri Lynn Kingery (fiancé, Justin Carruthers) of Effingham; grandkids, Bryce and Brody Bloemer, Makaela (Payton) Bushue, Summer and Riley Darkow, and Braxton and Jerzi Loy; great-grandkids, Esmee and Arthur Bushue; siblings, Jeanne (Roy) Campbell of Effingham, Kenneth (Peggy) Funneman of Effingham, Linda (Dave) Young of Sigel, Francis (Cathy) Funneman of Effingham, Dolores (Pete) Wilmarth of Frisco, TX, and Dennis (Marilee) Funneman of Effingham; brother-in-law, Mark Smith of Teutopolis; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerald “Tuffy”; sisters, Marita Connelly, Marilyn Smith; brother, Jerry Funneman; parents-in-law, Newton “Buss” and Reba Kingery; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat and Vernon Babbs, Marilyn Kingery, and Gary Kingery.
