Rodney A. Strobel, 67, of Brownstown, died at 9:26 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Liberty Christian Church, Rural Brownstown with Rev. Olen Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery with military rites by Brownstown VFW Post #9770 and Vandalia American Legion #95. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Donor’s Choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rodney A. Strobel was born in St. Elmo, IL on Monday, May 16, 1955 to Virgil E. and Erma Lucille (Koester) Strobel, Sr. He married the love of his life Robin Childers on March 4, 2005. He was a member of Liberty Christian Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Brownstown VFW. He was a retired registered nurse.

He is survived by: his wife of over 18 years, Robin Strobel; daughter, Avree Strobel; stepson, Hunter Maxey; stepmother, Joann Strobel all of Brownstown; brother, Charles (Kim) Strobel of Brownstown and Gregory (Angie) Strobel; step sisters, Cathy (Bill) Smith, Karen Underwood, all of Brownstown and Jana (Matt) Bone of Seymour, WI; mother and father-in-law, Paul and Helen Childers of Salem; sisters-in-law, Kim (Randy) Miller of Bardstown, KY, Tony (Missy) Childers of Salem, Lee Ann (Don) Gordon of Mt. Vernon, and Kellie (Bill) Hines of Franklin, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Rodney was preceded in death by: his parents and brother, Virgil (Jeanne) Strobel, Jr.

Rod was a stranger to no one, he loved his family and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was super proud of his “baby girl” Avree and always let her know. He had a giving heart and would do anything for anyone. He will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here
