Karen A. Klepzig, 82, of Altamont, died at 2:04 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Heartland Senior Living, Neoga.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2023 at Arborcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, rural Effingham with Rev. Maria Bonine officiating. Memorials may be made to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital Hospice, American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the family to help with funeral expenses. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Karen was born on Monday, November 25, 1940 in Effingham, IL to Albert Stice and Marie (Smith) Stice Bannick. She married Arland John Klepzig on July 28, 1956 in Aberdeen, Maryland. She was a member of St. Paul (ELCA) Lutheran Church, Altamont. In addition to raising her family she was retired from Fedders USA, Effingham.

She is survived by her husband of over 66 years, Arland Klepzig of Altamont; sons, Douglas Carl Klepzig of Altamont; daughters, Kimberly Jo Wakefield of Charleston and Tamara Denise Klepzig of Altamont; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren;1 great great granddaughter; brother-in-law, Roger (Karen Jean) Klepzig of Marion, OH; sister-in-law, Neva (Rev. Ronald) Warren of Columbus, Ohio; and uncle, Lloyd Smith of Mt. Zion.

Karen was preceded in death by: her parents, Albert Stice and Marie Bannick; parents-in-law, Carl and Florence (Engel) Klepzig; son, Allen Eugene Klepzig and 2 great grandchildren, Savannah Monk and Daygon Bryan
