Marilyn Zerrusen (81) of Teutopolis

Marilyn Helen (Goeckner) Zerrusen, 81 of Teutopolis passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in her home surrounded by family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Monday, April 17, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday at the church with a 6:30 pm parish prayer service. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis.

Marilyn was born March 21, 1942 in Bishop Creek, the daughter of Ferd and Alice (Dust) Goeckner. She graduated from Teutopolis High School in 1960. She married Larry E. Zerrusen on November 26, 1960 at St. Aloysius Church in Bishop Creek.

Marilyn worked 28 years for the United States Postal System. Prior to her retirement in 2011, she was Postmaster in Montrose, IL for 18 years. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and Catholic Daughters of America.

Marilyn enjoyed camping, baking, quilting, shopping, gardening, and attending grandchildren’s school-related events. She and Larry were loyal supporters of Teutopolis Wooden Shoe sports.

Marilyn loved and was proud of her family including her husband of 62 years; her 6 children: Donald (Jennifer) of Teutopolis, the late Micheal (Kim) of Huntsville, AL, Sandra (Kevin) Thoele of Effingham, Scott (Angie) of Fenton, MO, Chuck (Sherri) of Louisville, and Keri (Rodney) Will of Teutopolis; grandchildren: Jessica (Andy) Warfel, Lee (Adrian) Ruholl, Brandie (Tony) Johnson, Kyle (Melissa) Ruholl, Alisha (Josh) Turcott, Justin (Andrea) Zerrusen, Shelby (Mitch) Nosbish, Devin Zerrusen, Austin (Charissa) Zerrusen, Brayden Will, Cody Zerrusen, and Theo Zerrusen, along with 16 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother, Harold (Jane) Goeckner of Teutopolis; In-laws, Madonna Goeckner of Altamont, Beth Hewing of Teutopolis, Jack (Jane) Zerrusen & Marilyn (Norbert) Langhorst of Effingham, and Kay (Joe) Conder of Stewardson, along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mike; parents-in-law, Sylvester and Laura Zerrusen; brothers, Freddy and Spec. 4 Eugene Goeckner; sisters, Anna Mae (Micheal) Hewing, Alva (Oliver) Heuerman, and Baby Goeckner; nephews, Ronnie and Pat Heuerman; niece, Sue Borries.
