Rose Marie Strang, 85, of Shumway, Illinois passed away at 5:11 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2013 peacefully at home surrounded by family.


 
A memorial visitation celebrating Rose’s life will be from 5-7:30 p.m., with a service beginning at 7:30 Thursday, June 6, at Blue Point Baptist Church, located on Moccasin Road, rural Shumway. The funeral will be at a later date in Milburn Cemetery, Milburn. Memorials may be made to Blue Point Baptist Church or the Effingham Humane Society. Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, is in charge of arrangements.


 
Rose was born May 30, 1928, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the daughter of Raymond and Rose Scherrer. She married Tom B. Strang January 29, 1949. 
Rose was a member of the Blue Point Baptist Church and enjoyed her ‘Fat Tuesday’ bible studies. Rose was an amazing mother and grandmother, loved spending time with her family, and believed there was no such thing as a stranger -- only friends you haven't yet met.
 
She is survived by her son, Kevin T. (wife Jeanette) Strang; daughter, Nancy E. (husband Doug) Hankins; grandchildren, Kathy Crittenden, Karly (husband Scott) Wiedman, Kelsey and Kaleb Hankins and Maggie Rose Strang; sister, Shirley (husband Ray) Casagrande; niece, Donna (husband Dean) Barndt; nephew, Darren Barndt; and great-grandchildren, Kayley, Kiyah, Logan and Riley.


 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom B. Strang and son, Jeffrey J. Strang.
